Webex

Webex messaging and meetings

Spaces, meetings, captions, and Vidcast, and the one meeting limit to know.

The short answer

Included: Team messaging and meetings come with every seat.
The one limit: A scheduled meeting on the basic package stops at 40 minutes.
The fix: Ask us to move the seat to the standard package. No charge.
Customer texts: Those are Textdock, not Webex messaging.

Webex is three things in one: calling, team messaging, and meetings. This page covers the second two, so you can drop a separate chat tool and a separate video tool.

Messaging

The Messaging tab is one-to-one chat and group spaces with the people on your team. Send files, react, edit or delete a sent message, and search the history. Presence shows who is available, in a meeting, or away.

A space is a group chat for a project or a team: create one from the plus icon, add people, and the space keeps the messages, files and links together. A space can start a meeting with one click.

Messages with customers on your business number are a different thing. They are texts and WhatsApp, and they arrive as spaces through Textdock.

Meetings

Video meetings with screen share, whiteboard, breakout rooms, recording, and live captions. Start one from the Meetings tab, from any space, or from your personal meeting room link. Screen share works inside an ordinary one-to-one call too; you do not need a formal meeting to show someone your screen.

Every seat starts on the basic meeting package, and a scheduled meeting on that package ends at 40 minutes. The standard package removes the limit and costs nothing extra: ask us and we move the seat. Beyond that cap, the two packages are close enough that most people never notice which one they are on.

Noise removal

Webex removes background noise on your side in real time on every call and meeting. There is a switch in settings if you ever want it off.

Captions and the AI Assistant

Live captions appear on screen during a meeting, and the host gets a transcript afterwards. The Webex AI Assistant is built into meetings: it summarizes the meeting, pulls out action items, and can catch you up if you joined late. This is Cisco's meeting assistant, separate from the call summaries Vocatech writes on recorded phone calls.

Vidcast

Vidcast is a recorded video message. Record your screen and your camera, send the link, and the other person watches when they want. Good for walking someone through a screen without scheduling a live call.

Still stuck?

A real person at Vocatech picks up, usually within minutes during business hours. A message from the contact page opens a ticket with our team.
