Vocatech
Platform. Faxing

Your fax number,
without the fax machine.

A fax line that lands in your email and sends from your email, the portal or your own software. Nothing plugs in, nothing jams, nobody stands at the machine.

How it works

A PDF in your inbox. A PDF out of it.

The other side dials a fax number and gets a fax. On your side it is email and a page in the portal.

Receiving

A fax to your number arrives by email at the line’s address, as the PDF or as a link that opens it in the portal, whichever the line is set to. Forward it, file it, print it.

Sending by email

Email the PDF to the ten-digit number at fax.vocatech.com, from the line’s own address. A confirmation comes back when it lands, a reason when it fails.

Sending from the portal

Open the Faxing page, press Send Fax, pick the file. The same page lists every fax sent and received on every line of the account, each with a View button.

What a line comes with

Everything a fax line needs.

One line is enough for most businesses. Add a second when you often send and receive at the same time.

Your own fax number

A new number, or your old fax number ported over at no charge. Senders dial it like any fax machine.

PDF in, PDF out

Received faxes are PDFs, kept on the Faxing page. Send PDFs up to 25 pages; Word files can reformat.

One address, both directions

The email address on the line receives its faxes and is the only one that can send from it.

Covered by the HIPAA agreement

Faxing from the portal is covered once you accept the BAA. On a HIPAA account the email carries a link, never the page.

In the API and the webhooks

Send a PDF from your own software and get fax.sent, fax.received, fax.delivered and fax.failed events.

A thousand pages a month

Each line sends up to a thousand pages a month. Past that, sending pauses until we raise the limit with you.

Why virtual

The fax machine was the problem.

Fax is still how referrals, authorizations, claims and signed forms move between offices. The machine was the part that jammed, ran out of toner and sat in a hallway where anyone could read the page. Virtual fax keeps the number and the format the other side expects, and puts the page in the inbox or the portal of the person who needs it.

Straight answers

What offices ask us about fax first.

What does a fax line cost?
A flat monthly price per line, on top of any seat; the figure is at the bottom of this page. One line is enough for most businesses; a second helps when you send and receive at the same time.
Can we keep our fax number?
Yes. Tell us it is a fax line and we port it onto the fax service rather than a phone. Fax ports run on their own schedule and we tell you the day it goes live.
How do we send a fax?
Email the PDF to the ten-digit number at fax.vocatech.com, with no 1 in front, from the email address on the line. Or open the Faxing page in the portal and press Send Fax. Your own software can send through the API.
Is it HIPAA compliant?
Faxing from the portal is covered by the HIPAA agreement once you accept it in the portal. Email is not a covered channel, so patient records are best sent and read from the portal.
Is there a page limit?
A thousand pages a month per line. Past that, sending pauses until we raise the limit with you. Most businesses never come near it.
Can our software send faxes?
Yes. The REST API sends a PDF of up to 25 pages from your own system, and four webhook events report when a fax is sent, received, delivered or failed.
Can we fax outside the country?
No. Faxes go to numbers in the US and Canada. There is no international faxing.
$14.95 a month per line

Add a fax line to any seat.

A real person sets it up, ports your fax number, and shows you the Faxing page on your own account.
