Doorbell Buying Guide

Door phones and intercoms: the analog kit we support end to end, and how your own device registers.

The short answer

Simple setup: AudioCodes MP-112 + Algo 3228.
Multiple doors: Upgrade to MP-114 for four ports.
Own device: Your installer registers it through OnSIP with credentials from us.
Gateway through Vocatech: Ships configured.

Connect a door phone to your phone system. When someone presses the button, it rings your team. You can talk back from any phone or the Webex app, and buzz the door open where the door hardware allows it.

Recommended setup

Two pieces. The AudioCodes gateway connects to your network and gives you analog ports. The Algo door phone plugs into one of those ports with a simple wire run. When someone presses the call button, it rings a group you choose. You can also call the door phone from any extension for a two-way conversation. Buy the gateway through Vocatech and it ships ready to go.

The bridge to your phone system

MP112/2S/SIP, 2 FXS ports

Best for: Any setup that needs one or two analog door phones, paging devices, or intercoms on the phone system.

Two FXS ports so you can connect two devices. Buy through Vocatech and it ships configured. Plug it into your network and it works. Need four ports? Ask about the MP-114.

Recommended door phone

Algo 3228 Station Port Door Phone

Algo 3228

Two-way audio at any entrance. Press the button, it rings your team.

Best for: Front doors, side entrances, gates, loading docks, or any spot where visitors need to reach someone inside.

Plugs into the AudioCodes gateway with standard wiring up to 1,000 feet. Stainless steel faceplate, outdoor rated, backlit call button. Built-in relay for door strikes and gates. Analog connection, so it always works and never breaks.

How the ringing is set up

A door station usually gets two hunt groups. One, often named Door Bell, holds the phones that ring when the button is pressed. The other, often named Bell Out, has no members and forwards straight to the door station, so dialing that extension from any phone calls the door. Who rings, and in what order, is changed on the hunt group without touching the door device. See hunt groups.

Buzzing the door open

Most door stations accept a keypad tone during the call to trigger the door release. The code is configured on the device by your installer at the same time as the wiring. Answer the door call on your desk phone or in Webex, talk to the visitor, and press the key your installer set.

Bring your own device

If your installer has a preferred door phone or intercom, we provide SIP registration through OnSIP, a third-party service with step-by-step guides for popular devices, including 2N, Algo, Akuvox and Grandstream. We create the credentials from our OnSIP account and assign a dedicated number that routes into your hunt group. Your installer enters the credentials on the device using the OnSIP hardware guides, and we confirm the registration from our side.

This is a good option for shared buildings, multi-tenant setups, access-controlled entrances, or any situation where the installer already knows which hardware they want. Contact us and we will set up the registration credentials.

What it costs

The doorbell service is $14.95 a month per dedicated number. That covers the registration, the number, and the routing into your hunt group. The door station, the gateway where one is used, and any wiring are separate.

What we configure and what we do not

We configure the AudioCodes gateway and the phone system routing, or the OnSIP registration for your own device, and we confirm the device registers. Wiring, mounting, the door release, camera adjustments and the device's own settings are handled by your installer. One adjustment that is ours: the outside speaker's volume on an AudioCodes gateway can be changed from our side, so a door phone that is too loud or too quiet is worth a call before a site visit. The Algo 3228 with our configured gateway is the combination we support end to end.
