Holidays are their own branch. When today is on the holiday list, the auto attendant plays the holiday greeting no matter what time it is or what your regular schedule says. This is the setting that saves you from callers hearing business-hours greetings on Thanksgiving.
Vocatech pre-loads the common holidays. You add your own if needed. Attach the holiday schedule to any auto attendant and it runs automatically every year.
Pre-loaded holidays
Every Vocatech account comes with a pre-loaded list of common US holidays. You do not have to add them yourself.
- New Year's Day
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Day and the day after
- Christmas Eve and Christmas Day
The pre-loaded list also includes commonly observed religious holidays so businesses that close for them do not have to build their own calendar from scratch.
Custom days
Any day your business closes that is not on the pre-loaded list is a custom holiday. Opening day of a local event. A company-wide training. A regional holiday. An owner's birthday. Whatever it is, add it once and it runs that day.
Custom days can be a single date or a recurring annual date. A one-time company retreat next Thursday is a single date. The day after a yearly company anniversary is a recurring date.
How priority works
An auto attendant checks three states in order when a call arrives. Holiday is first. After-hours is second. Business hours is the default.
- Is today on the holiday schedule? If yes, play the holiday greeting.
- If not, is the current time outside the business-hours window? If yes, play the after-hours greeting.
- If neither, play the business-hours greeting.
This priority is why the holiday greeting always wins. A holiday that falls on a weekday still gets the holiday branch, even though the weekday is inside your normal business schedule.
Attaching to an attendant
A holiday schedule is attached separately from the regular business-hours schedule. You can attach both to the same auto attendant, and they work in parallel.
- Build the holiday schedule under
Schedulesin the portal - Open the auto attendant you want to control
- Attach the holiday schedule in the holiday dropdown
- Write or record the holiday greeting. Save.
One holiday schedule can cover your whole company. Attach it to every auto attendant. When you add a new custom day next year, you update it in one place and every attendant picks up the change.
